In a series of statements, Weinstein veered between contrition and anger. In a Thursday statement he said that he sometimes behaved badly with some of his colleagues in the past and apologized for it. "It relies on mostly hearsay accounts and a faulty report, apparently stolen from an employee personnel file, which has been debunked by nine different eyewitnesses".
Later in the statement, he vowed to do better, and said he would channel his anger against the National Rifle Association and President Donald Trump.
"It will be named after my mom, and I won't disappoint her", he said. The Weinstein Company board that made this decision was already depleted in ranks by board members who quit soon after the misconduct revelations became public. All have disputed the claims.
