San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz donned "nasty" shirt during interview Wednesday in response to President Trump's tweet. We'll have more on Puerto Rico with Congressmember Nydia Velázquez of NY, who is originally from Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, where Hurricane Maria made landfall just over two weeks ago.
Ms Cruz wore the shirt during an interview in which she attacked the President for his visit to Puerto Rico after the U.S. territory was devastated by a hurricane. And that was before Hurricane Maria slammed into the island two weeks ago, causing widespread devastation and leaving millions of people without power or water. "What is really nasty is that anyone would turn their back on the Puerto Rican people" she explained in Spanish. Trump visited a church in Guaynabo where he distributed supplies to hurricane victims, including rolls of paper towels.
On Tuesday night, Gov. Ricardo Rossellorevealed that Puerto Rico's official death toll more than doubled since the storm hit the Carribean island.
Until Maria, Santiago sold excess electricity generated by his six by three foot wide panels back to Puerto Rico's now-defunct grid.
Trump had hoped to visit earlier in the week, but the White House said hard logistics in the aftermath of the storm prevented his trip.
US President Donald Trump only toured some of Puerto Rico's least damaged neighbourhoods.
Donald Trump may have described his Puerto Rico visit as great, but the ground reality presents a different picture.
Cruz criticized the Trump administration's hurricane response to the island.
In addition to the briefing with local officials, the president and first lady Melania Trump also will "visit with individuals impacted" by the deadly storm, according to the White House schedule.
But instead of distinguishing between Puerto Rico's financial crisis and its current humanitarian crisis, Trump chose to lord the island's debt problem over its head. "We are talking about life and death".
There will be time for the administration to take credit for Puerto Rico's return to normalcy.
In a statement on Tuesday, network provider AT&T Inc (T.N) praised the FCC efforts at rebuilding communications infrastructure.
