The Green Bay Packers meet the Dallas Cowboys Sunday for the 36th time in what has been a streaky series. The defense seemed unable to stop Jared Goff or Todd Gurley and Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein kicked seven (yes, SEVEN) field goals to outpace the Boys on their way to a 35-30 victory. The man does things that defy logic and has consistently been able to carry an otherwise average team with no run game.
In fact, this is his first contest all season that owners do not have to worry about a tough, bruising defense looking to dominate the line of scrimmage. The Packers rank 25th in yards per carry and 27th in overall rushing yards.
More recently the Packers have beaten the Cowboys in the playoffs twice in the last four years and have won eight of the last 12 meetings.
With the most recent outcome on Thursday evening, there is only hope that this last Bears game in Green Bay will be the last in a very dubious stretch of bad play against a rival that makes up the NFL's oldest rivalry. Instead, the focus turns to the defense-Rodgers has now beaten every National Football League team other than the Packers, but no other team has beaten Rodgers more than the Vikings, who have taken down the Bad Man six times in his career.
Adams practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday but because he has not been cleared, he's barred from talking to reporters.
Aaron Rodgers posted a historic performance as he threw six touchdowns in the first half alone.
But the momentum was gone after the first play on offense once the game started as Mike Glennon was sacked and fumbled, giving the Packers a quick 14-0 lead.
Ezekiel Elliott (Running Back): Zeke had his best game of the season last week and that level of production should continue if he is on the field. The Cowboys are opening 2.5-point favourites at Sports Interaction. Now in 2017, and year two under QB Dak Prescott, the Cowboys find themselves at the quarter mark of the season at 2-2. Kevin King has shown an ability to be a threat for the Packers secondary but the Cowboys offense is so dynamic it will be hard to give Dak problems.
The Packers have a banged up secondary so the Cowboys should look to take advantage. That came in 2011 when Green Bay averaged 97.4 rushing yards per game. Stephen Paea is banged up and Irving could help generate inside pass rush next to Maliek Collins. Time is the key because the Cowboys can apply pressure.
This will certainly be an exciting game as revenge has to be on the Cowboys' minds.
13-3 a year ago, but 2 losses already. A staple of Minnesota's success has come on the shoulders of Mike Zimmer's defense, and if the Packers want to win in US Bank Stadium, Mike McCarthy must get creative with protections for Rodgers and try to take the pressure off him with whatever running back is healthy that week.
Pass rusher David Irving is ready after serving a four-game suspension, two weeks removed from fellow defensive lineman Damontre Moore rejoining the team following a two-game ban.
