An Ottawa woman who is living with the effects of a botched eye tattoo says she doesn't regret speaking out about her ordeal despite the backlash she's received on social media.
And that's exactly what 24 year old Canadian model Catt Gallinger is warning anyone considering eye tattoos, a procedure she recently had done, to do before going under the needle. Catt Gallinger wanted to turn the white of her eye purple but she regrets not having been cautious enough and now has a blurry vision and severe pain. And if they absolutely insist on it, I want them to do their research.
However, she revealed that her mental health remains extremely volatile as a result of her experience.
According to Cobra, he is the first artist to have refined the procedure that completely tattoos the whites of the eye.
Because of her tattoo infection, Catt may lose her vision in one eye, despite following proper aftercare procedures - although medical intervention will hopefully mitigate the damage.
Catt, a model, said that she thought the tattoo would make her "feel more at home" in her body, but she now believes her career is over. In a video posted on Facebook, she admitted she had stopped doing things she used to enjoy such as singing and painting, among other creative performances.
"I've had people tell me I deserve to die, that I deserve to be blind". And they are people who don't accept difference. "I would never recommend that this is a good decision", she said.
As reported byFox 8, Gallinger said that while she knows a lot of people who have not had any issues with their scleral tattoos, the artist who did hers was unqualified and persuaded her until she "gave in".
We've definitely all had beauty experiments go wrong (I once got a pageboy haircut for example, and it did me no favors whatsoever), but the photos of Catt Gallinger's eye tattoo prove that sometimes, these things can get downright risky.
She told the Sun Online that she advises anyone against trying it out. It will either go completely or stay a blurry mess. I'm hoping it is just a bad day and...
As for why the tattoo caused such a large amount of swelling in Gallinger's eye, Dr. Ziai says it is hard to say but she thinks it "speaks to the lack of experience of the person who did this". But getting a tattoo on your eyeball? There are no procedures to remove it.
Gallinger attributes her injures to allowing an inexperienced tattooist to inject her eye.
