This mesmeric prequel film is narrated by Sir David Attenborough and also set to eerily poignant music by composer Hans Zimmer (known for his musical scores for blockbusting films such as Inception and Interstellar) and Radiohead.
Blue Planet II does not yet have a premiere date.
Zimmer also spoke of his work on the song, stating that he wanted to do the original justice, and really focus on the lyrics and giving them even more meaning - without ruining it (if he's even possible of ruining a song). The wonders of our little planet are vast, and we'd never know they existed if it weren't for the awesome filmmaking done by the BBC to capture these handsome and wonderful pieces of nature. Blue Planet II is taking its cue from these breakthroughs, unveiling unbelievable new places, extraordinary new behaviours and remarkable new creatures.
Broadcast in 2001, multi-award winning The Blue Planet was the BBC Studios Natural History Unit's unprecedented look at the world's oceans, the scale and breadth of which had never been seen before. The show follows an extremely successful launch of the incredible Planet Earth II last year, and it took four years to make.
The BBC have released the first trailer for Blue Planet II, and it's looking to be another stunning series voiced by the beloved David Attenborough.
