Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has made three changes to his team for today's Premier League game at home to Stoke City, with Christian Atsu, DeAndre Yedlin and Chancel Mbemba all coming into the side in place of Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo and Jesus Gamez.
Xherdan Shaqiri had levelled for Stoke following Christian Atsu's opener, but Lascelles proved to be the match-winner for the second straight weekend. "We had enough chances to manage the game better".
"The fans, when you win so many games in a row, they are excited and thinking about Europe".
"We have to keep working hard and we know what we have in the team and the squad".
"At the end, we were suffering a little bit because we didn't take the chances we had. We were not quite as accurate as we need to be".
That was before Lascelles decided the destination of the points with a thunderous header from a corner kick, making it three consecutive wins for the Magpies in the process.
Joselu was facing Stoke for the first time since leaving in the summer, and the forward could have had a hat-trick on another day. "He's just got up over Wimmer so that's disappointing but it was a good header", Hughes added.
"They can enjoy it, we have to enjoy it, but we have to be sure that the next training session, we start correcting things and improving things and doing things in the way we are doing things at the moment".
"It is a very competitive league and we are learning from that".
