In a Facebook post, Michale Sechler said he went to the bay with some friends to check out the phenomenon when they noticed two large objects lying in the mud.
Michael Sechler wrote of how he had to call in for help after seeing the creatures as they were too heavy to move back out to deeper water.
However, he said the commission is anxious that the manatees could end up in areas where they naturally wouldn't once the tide comes back, but he doesn't think they will get injured.
Two manatees are rescued from Sarasota Bay when the water receded
"I was amazed how many people started sharing the story".
"It shows what people can do when they come together".
Twitter users had high praise for the manatees' rescuers.
Florida Power and Light reported more than 100,000 of its customers were without power in Manatee County Monday morning.
Some Good Samaritans found the manatees and attempted to move them on their own. Instead, report the location to the FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline 1-888-404-3922.
The animals swam off into the water once they were rescued, according to witnesses.
