Hicks took over the role after the departure of Anthony Scaramucci, who held the position for just 10 days in July.
The 28-year-old Hicks was among the first members of Trump's presidential campaign, joining it after working for the Trump Organization.
Ms Hicks went on to leave the firm to work for the Trump Organization in 2014, helping to expand Ms Trump's fashion label.
The Associated Press reports that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the news Tuesday, Sept. 11.
'I said, "What do you know about politics?"
Hicks contracted previous Justice Department lawyer Robert Trout to speak to her as extraordinary guidance Robert Mueller keeps exploring conceivable agreement between Trump partners and Russian Federation amid the decision, as indicated by a report.
Trump himself eventually succeeded in getting her to change her mind.
Hicks had taken on the role of communications director on an interim basis since last month.
Hicks's promotion is being well received by White House staff, who appreciate her loyalty, according to reporters. Hicks is a 2010 graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she majored in English and played club lacrosse.
After Mr Scaramucci was announced as the new communications director in July - replacing Mike Dubke, who resigned in May - Mr Scaramucci said at a news conference: "Dan [Scavino] and Hope Hicks are staying". She's also among the highest-paid employees of Trump's White House.
