Trump's Son-in-Law leads a delegation to Middle East

The two sides talked about seeking ways to reach "a real and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians" and ensuring stability in the wider Middle East and beyond, SPA said.

Mohammed bin Salman met Kushner, US negotiator Jason Greenblatt, and deputy national security adviser Dina Powell in Jeddah, a day before the officials were set to travel to Jerusalem and then Ramallah to meet Israeli and Palestinian officials.

On Wednesday, the U.S. delegation is expected to arrive in Israel, the media outlet said citing a White House aide.

White House adviser Jared Kushner is leading a delegation of Trump administration officials to the Middle East to discuss the possibility of resuming the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

They'll head later to the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Israel and the West Bank.

Netanyahu will be in Russian Federation this week to meet with Kremlin President Vladimir Putin.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will make an official visit to Turkey on August 28, presidential spokesman announced Wednesday.

"I have met with Trump envoys about 20 times since the beginning of his term as president of the United States", Haaretz quoted Abbas as saying, citing "notes taken by some of the meeting's participants".

'Every time they repeatedly stressed to me how much they believe and are committed to a two-state solution and a halt to construction in the settlements. I have pleaded with them to say the same thing to Netanyahu, but they refrained. 'Inside [Trump's] country, there is chaos in the administration, ' he said.

The White House released little information about the trip when it got announced 10 days ago.

The Palestinian Liberation Organization's representative in Washington subsequently expressed his cynicism for any likelihood that the Trump administration will make good on its promise to secure a peace deal.

'Since then we didn't hear from them, ' he said.

Abbas is reportedly working to hold a meeting of the Palestinian National Council, which is the highest legislative body of the PLO and elects the PLO leadership.
