But here's what happened.
In Friday's Game 4, Green appeared to be on his way to being ejected after picking up what seemed to be his second technical foul of the game. Chaos ensued, however, when the referees declared that an earlier technical in the first half was actually supposed to have been charged to Steve Kerr but was instead give to Green by the official scorer.
"Yeah, I knew (there was no ejection) because the first tech was on Steve (Kerr), which I didn't understand", Green said.
This is eerily familiar territory.
Green was also central to the most confusing officiating incident of the post-season, one that led to National Basketball Association officials Mike Callahan and John Goble publicly accepting the blame for one of the more freaky moments in Game 4 of the series. They come to the game thinking about me.
"If we win the championship, I'm like 99 percent sure we don't get him", Green said.
Green knows there are those out there who wish he wasn't so confrontational all the time, but in his mind, he's got to be him. "Don't seem to be the sharpest people around". A mellower Green will play in Game 5 of the series.
"When the technical foul was called on Draymond Green, we reported it to the table".
John Goble, the official who whistled Kerr's technical foul: "In the moment, I thought I had verbalized to the table that the (initial) technical foul was on Coach Kerr".
And having a game 5 at home opens a chance at redemption and securing a crown with his work on the court. "But I thought I heard the announcer say, the P.A. announcer say, that it was on Draymond". "So I'll just leave that at that".
The Cavs showed what they're capable of doing when everything clicks on both ends, scoring a record 86 points in the first half of Friday's 137-116 win to extend the series and postpone any Warriors plans for a victory parade.
Although the Warriors went home for Game 5 last year, up 3-1, guard Stephen Curry won't compare their situation now to last year's. I expect us to come out with a level of focus that we have had this entire series, minus Game 4. They are up 3-1 in the best-of-seven series - again. "But still trying to figure out why did I get the second one". I talk to them. So I knew I didn't have a technical foul.
