Kia Motors Corporation has previewed its upcoming compact SUV, the Stonic, with a few official sketches.
Not only that, it will be the most customisable vehicle the firm has ever made, with options and configurations possibilities more like a premium auto than a regular value-priced model.
Kia reckons it will have this auto called the Stonic on sale in the second half of this year. With hard angles, over-sized wheels and roof racks, the initial rendering of the Stonic evokes a sense of sportiness. We rather like the trim customisation Kia's hinting at in its teaser image: bronze trim elements and contrasting dash trim infills should finally give Kia interior design the lift it's needed for a while now. The Niro name was later applied to its compact hybrid SUV, leaving a void in the range to be filled by this small Nissan Juke-style crossover.
The sweeping roofline will flow to the rear, where the Stonic will get "unique tail lamp graphic".
Kia was Australia's fastest growing mainstream auto brand in 2016, selling over 42,000 cars for a growth of 27% over the previous year. Both of these cars feature striking looks, and the Stonic looks to be following this path.
The European-designed cabin parallels the appearance of the exterior, with straight lines and smooth surfaces.
