Streetsboro Mayor Glenn Broska said he's sad to hear that the store would be leaving.
In January, Sears announced a round of more than 150 store closures, which included the Kmart at 8501 Auburn Blvd., in Citrus Heights. Later in March, the company warned investors that it can't promise it will stay in business.
Most of the stores will close in September. The media reports cite a list released internally on Tuesday about the closings.
On completion of the latest store closures, the company's store count will come down to 1,200 from 2,073 stores five years ago.
Regency is undergoing changes of its own, soon.
"We hope to retain a portion of the sales previously associated with this store by maintaining our relationships with the members who shopped this location".
Kmart's famous blue light could be going out in Michiana.
The former south Dothan Kmart store's 90,000-square-feet of space has been remodeled and subdivided into new retail space, which is occupied by new businesses. Sears and Kmart have a proud history in the United States that dates back to the 19th century. Revenue for the retailer was down by about a billion dollars in the first quarter of this year.
Both of those stores already have closed. Closings include: Traverse City (store 3009), West Branch (store 3864) and Cheboygan (store 9245).
