Mr Trump's move to renew the waiver for six months keeps the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv for now.
During the presidential campaign, Trump often spoke about moving the embassy.
White House has insisted that the waiver is temporary, and the question is not if Trump will relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem but when. That order will allow Trump maintain the negotiations of a peace while it disappointed lots of Israel supporters.
Similar to Trump, former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush promised embassies in Jerusalem during their campaigns, only to change their minds once in office. "I do believe", Jeffress tells OneNewsNow, "that the Trump administration will eventually fulfil their commitment in moving our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem".
Speaking with Israeli leaders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, in Jerusalem, Trump declared he saw a potential for closer relations between Israel and the Arab countries in the Middle East.
"The question is not if that move happens, but only when".
"This is in line with the long-held USA policy and the worldwide consensus and it gives peace a chance", he said.
"We are ready to to start the consultation process with the United States administration", Zomlot said.
The president's remarks come a day after he signed a waiver to keep the Us embassy in Tel Aviv. Since 1999, the deadline of the original act, every United States president has singed the waiver every six months. When the new six-month waiver ends, Trump will have to revisit the issue.
Trump faced a Thursday deadline to sign the waiver, or let it expire.
Israelis and Palestinians view the ancient city with great importance.
"The decision underscores the seriousness of the US administration's efforts to promote peace and build a bridge of trust", he said, "particularly after the summit in Saudi Arabia [attended by Trump] and the meetings between [PA President Mahmoud] Abbas and Trump". Both are in the Old City, part of east Jerusalem. Jerusalem is home to holy sites of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions.
"Fifty years ago, the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six Day War reunited the Jewish people with their historic capital city", DeSantis, the chair of the House National Security Subcommittee, said.
Not moving the embassy affected Trump's popularity in Israel, where Trump's approval ratings have dropped significantly since he took office in January.
