'He Is Something': Trump Visits Pope Francis At The Vatican

Trump and his entourage arrived at the Vatican just before 08:30, in a the meeting that was arranged at the last minute, the BBC reported. 'We had a fantastic meeting'. They disagree openly on such weighty issues as immigration, climate change and economic policy. "That's so handsome. Thank you".

Pope Francis and Trump smiled as they sat down at the Pope's desk in the papal library.

"Well, I'll be reading them", Trump said.

Trump replied, "We can use peace".

President Trump asked Pope Francis to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity.

The Pope also pointedly gave Trump some of his writings, including his recent plea to fight climate change, and the importance of protecting our environment.

"Pope Francis hates Trump and wasn't holding back anything, I love that man and I'm not even Catholic".

Both Melania and Ivanka Trump were dressed in black with their heads partially covered, in keeping with a traditional Vatican protocol that is no longer expected to be rigorously observed.

With Trump, there were some doubts about the sincerity of his pro-life beliefs, but his first few months in the White House have shown a commitment to protecting unborn life.

After the meeting, Trump met with Italy's Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni where pool reporters were allowed to visit.

Outside the Quirinale Palace, the Italian president's official residence, where a small crowd mostly of tourists gathered to catch a glimpse of Trump in the distance down a closed avenue, 50-year-old Ragna, a Danish banker, said she did not really know why she was waiting. "It was an honour to meet the pope".

Ivanka's plan after the meeting is to visit Sant'Egidio, a Christian community center devoted to migrants.

Trump later arrived in Brussels, a city he once dubbed a "hellhole", ahead of his first summits on Thursday with wary leaders of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union.

Then again, today's meeting was fraught with political drama, since President Trump and Pope Francis have clashed on several issues, most notably climate change.

But there have also been conciliatory moves.

A press spokesperson at the Vatican said that Francis adores potica and regularly mentions it when meeting with any Slovenian.

But while Trump and Francis may be in brief agreement, Trump's prior anti-Muslim rhetoric " including his musing that Islam "hates" the West " is the antithesis of what the pope has been preaching about a need for dialogue with Muslims.

Trump's visit to the Vatican is part of his first trip overseas as president, and follows an initial leg in Saudi Arabia and a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

The high-profile trip has diverted attention from Trump's domestic pressures over alleged campaign collusion with Russian Federation. The high-profile trip has diverted attention from Trump's domestic pressures over alleged campaign collusion with Russian Federation.

With his poll numbers at a record low for a recently-elected president, he will be hoping for a boost after rubbing shoulders with the popular pope.
